Piano & violin lessons in Crystal Palace
I teach the piano and violin in Crystal Palace, London. This includes child beginners, older students working through their grades, home-educated learners, and those looking to return to their instrument. Everyone is welcome.
I teach weekly during term time. Lessons can be midweek, or on Saturdays. After-school enquiries are welcome, and during the day for adults and home-educated students.
Lessons take place from my home in South London. I can also teach online across the UK.

Piano lessons
Piano is a brilliant instrument to learn. It's very accessible, and you can start playing simple tunes very quickly. There's also the immediacy of being able to just sit down and start playing without needing to prepare the instrument.
I typically start beginner children on the books by Pauline Hall, and put the foundations in place before starting on the grades. I'm also experienced guiding students through later grades, or pursuing other genres, like blues or jazz.

Learning the violin is very satisfying. I always like being fully involved in creating the sound, and being able to change a note after it has begun, such as with a warm vibrato or use of the bow.
Violin technique is complex and should develop gradually. With children, I introduce the basics and tweak how they hold the violin and bow during lessons, so they can enjoy working through pieces without it intruding too much. For more experienced players, I keep exercises as a regular feature alongside the music we’re working on, to avoid bad habits creeping in.
